Being a Christian is so enormously gratifying. I think even more so for us who haven't been Christians all of our lives. Whenever that light bulb flickers because of something you thought...you find that it is biblical in some way. This passage is one of those moments for me.
I love music, always have loved music. Can relate a particular time in my life to what the "hit" of the day was. I was born in the 60's, so "hippie music" is definitely my thing. The Zombies released a song that I can still sing "Time of the Season." Along with Terry Jacks "Seasons in the Sun" they are two songs that are imbedded in my memory. Listening to the music I grew up on has changed in it's meaning. What I remember of it as a child, wearing my "peace sign" leather hippie headband, and hearing it today... sometimes gets shocking at what I was singing at 5 and 6 and 7. I have different understanding now, as I have gone through "Seasons."
Imagine my surprise the first time I heard Ecclesiastes 3 recited in church. I can't remember when or where, I think it was at a funeral.
OH MY GOSH...It's not just a song... God is so AWESOME!!! Little treasures everywhere for you to find (if you're looking...and sometimes when you're not). For a born and raised Christian, it's no big deal. But for me? The AWE never stops. That's one of the reasons I love teaching Sunday school...always learning something new...through the eyes of a child...mine
