I realized that I had done plenty of maternal heritage layouts, and not one paternal layout. So I scanned some pics my little sister gave me, and thought I work on my father's side of the family. I only met my grandma Donna once, when I was 18 and stupid. And I'm afraid I didn't leave a very good impression. And she passed away before I was mature enough to make amends. Grandma was born Donna Bernice Stout on 27 November 1918 in Utah. And she passed away on 3 September 1991 in Solano, California.
Grandma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In fact our ancestry is LDS pioneers. I am comforted with the fact that she sees me from heaven, and can see that I'm living a Christian life. That I'm not that ignorant child she met in life.
When on vacation to Washington from California in 2002, Netta shared with me history of our genealogy and heritage pictures. And everyone raved about how much I look like Grandma (except I'm a foot shorter). Seeing our resemblance for the first time brought tears to my eyes.
I remember when we had one of these clocks hanging on our wall. Until my mom and step-dad got married. The maid of honor and best man came and redecorated our house; pouring 5 lbs of rice in their bed, t.p.'d the entire house, put pots n pans in the frig, and turned the clock upside down, among other things (my room was safe though..whew). The clock kept time after that, but her tail and eyes remained still :(
